Counseling Services

Hollins University Counseling

Counseling Services is here to support and serve the diverse student community of Hollin’s University.  We recognize the challenges of academic growth as well as personal growth. We provide 1:1 counseling, assessments, groups and workshops, referrals and psychiatric services, and a supportive place to explore new perspectives, gain emotional support, and find help in considering solutions and alternatives. We welcome students who simply need a safe place to talk, have concerns about relationships, family, academics, or who have an emotional struggle or diagnosed mental illness. We see students with some of the following concerns:

  • psychological issues, such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, or substance use,
  •  personal issues, such as self-esteem, communication, relationships, identity development, sexual orientation or family conflict,
  • educational issues, such as procrastination, test anxiety, study skills, career counseling, and time management,
  • crisis situations, such as suicidal thoughts, sexual assault, or the death of someone close.

This is by no means a comprehensive list, and if needs are best met off campus, we assist with resources and referrals.
