Sondra Stephens, Licensed Professional Counselor earned her BA from Hollins University and Masters in Education, Counseling from Virginia Tech. Sondra is a LPC with 20 plus years of experience. She has provided therapy to children, teens, couples, and adults of all ages. She specializes in working with teen/young adult/young mothers, foster care and adopted youth, individuals with anxiety, ADHD, major depression, and trauma-related issues. She has a special interest in working with diverse populations and women who are struggling with setting life goals and those who need to be empowered. Sondra has recent training in EDMR therapy and is eager to implement this treatment within her practice
Emily Painter, Licensed Professional Counselor joined Carilion Clinic and Hollins Health and Counseling Services in August 2016. Emily has worked with groups and individuals in communities, homes, and schools, and has enjoyed leadership and supervisory positions for two local agencies. Her work as a counselor is integrative, and with wellness, behavioral, and insight-oriented leanings. She has additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, trauma work, nutrition, spirituality, and in working with depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, grief and loss, adjustment and life changes, and ADHD.
Deneatta Roarke, Licensed Professional Counselor earned her Bachelor of Arts from California State University in San Bernardino and a Master of Education, Counseling, from Virginia Tech. Deneatta is a Licensed Professional Counselor, with more than 25 years in Mental Health. She is a seasoned therapist with a holistic and strength-based approach to well-being. She is trauma informed and Deneatta is experienced in serving people and individuals of all ages within a variety of settings. She has interests in diversity, gender, and multicultural issues, forensics, and neurobiology. She is excited to join Hollins University Health and Counseling Center in August 2021.
